Know a place?

We're genetically programmed to avoid places with bad water. So I dig up the dirt on the best and worst coffee around Cape Town and South Africa.
Been somewhere good? Got a new menu? Find DR on Facebook, leave a comment, and I'll don my hat and investigate.

Mugg and Bean, Waterfront, ☢

Cappuccino : R16
Dull, remarkably flavourless brew. Even the foam has no flavour! I am still figuring out how to give a negative star.
It seems the waiter, the chef, and me have lost interest. Bugger Me, Mugg & Bean has been losing the plot these last years. I can remember eating delicious healthy meals filled with quality and flavour; M&B was the place to go for a decent cuppa full of rich body and aroma.
Now everything's cheese powder and cheap turpy beans. Soup is like bad tea with bits of muck floating in the polluted water; the once fantastic Eggs Benedict now a glassy mass of plastic mayo and checkers sandwich meat. McDonalds serve better food and coffee.
RIP M&B

  1. a bad cup of coffee is inexcusable. and infinitely disappointing. I'm a fan of the flat white and there are three places in town that serve it impeccably:
    - Giovanni's
    - Origin
    - The Power and the Glory.
    join me for a cup!
