Know a place?

We're genetically programmed to avoid places with bad water. So I dig up the dirt on the best and worst coffee around Cape Town and South Africa.
Been somewhere good? Got a new menu? Find DR on Facebook, leave a comment, and I'll don my hat and investigate.

Kennaway Hotel, East London, EC ★

Coffee kit (Nescafe)
A tasty but mild cup of home brew that dies rapidly on the tongue. After a few sips the flavour disappears and becomes just something to keep the chill out.
The hotel is a decadent Fawlty Towers with wonderful antique furniture and ancient stained carpets.
Rooms have a lovely view of the sea, if you don't mind the sewerage pipes. Accommodation is strongly marketed to conferences only, so don't expect a personal holiday experience. A bit pricey for what you get, and it seems all the hotels in the area are owned by the same group, so there's no competition to improve.
