Know a place?

We're genetically programmed to avoid places with bad water. So I dig up the dirt on the best and worst coffee around Cape Town and South Africa.
Been somewhere good? Got a new menu? Find DR on Facebook, leave a comment, and I'll don my hat and investigate.

Patat, Longmarket Street, CT WC, *

Cappuccino with foam (Lavazza) R18
Sweet, barky foam on dry-bitter roast. Hints of nutshell that dies down quickly, leaving a flat, bitter aftertaste.
3 Lonely stock cakes on rotation, served with supermarket chocolate syrup.. a few potato dishes on the chalkboard. No menu.
Friendly well dressed service, hearkening to the mass'er days, but noisy and intrusive under-the-feet mopping and cleaning and shouty kitchen ruins any atmosphere. Few people around on a weekday.
Late 80's suede and dark wood, a far cry from the humble name. Automatic door and reception makes it feel like a bank. A bar is the focal point of the decor Views of Longmarketers passing by outside.
