Know a place?

We're genetically programmed to avoid places with bad water. So I dig up the dirt on the best and worst coffee around Cape Town and South Africa.
Been somewhere good? Got a new menu? Find DR on Facebook, leave a comment, and I'll don my hat and investigate.

Cru Cafe, Cape Quarter _★★★

Cappuccino with crema R19 (Sibon)
A middle of the road, slightly bitter, slightly watery medium-dark roast. A hint of some type of powder on top adds no flavour or aroma. A second cup offered a better result, perhaps the machine was warming up, perhaps the barista.
With notably classy decor one expects a perfect cup au cafe, but gets le demi-bru. It's a fair cup with a very hard rusk attached, or was this a piece of chipboard left by the building crew to keep the door open? (let's not accuse this brickette of being Biscotti!)
Put on your glasses; there are LOTS of menus! And so many choices from Beef Wellington to Onion Tarte Tatin, Ratatouile, Moussaka, burgers and salads you'll be at war deciding which side of the channel will invade your tastebuds. The food is excellent and presented well.
Decor is black and wood stylish Nouveau Francais, with prompt, well dressed waiters. French music adds to le atmosphere. Jazz band every Thurs eve. Tres Bien
