Know a place?

We're genetically programmed to avoid places with bad water. So I dig up the dirt on the best and worst coffee around Cape Town and South Africa.
Been somewhere good? Got a new menu? Find DR on Facebook, leave a comment, and I'll don my hat and investigate.

Origin, De Waterkant, _★★★★★

Cappuccino with crema R20 (Origin house blend)

Distinctive, tasty, well rounded brew. The roast others aspire to be when they grow up. Origin's delicate balance of woody, nutty flavours and texture borders on art. No bitter aftertaste to spoil each sip, no wateriness to cry "miser" at the Barista.
More refined palettes can customise their cup with the various single-origin roasts available. This coffee has a kick! Really, it'll get you just a little high.
The Origin shop and brand has built a wonderful mystique, completely justified. Stylish but not snobby, the cafe has an atmosphere filled with chat and jazz, so roughly perfect it's like a movie set. There's lots of coffee-related decor to look at, and many nooks to hide away with the paper or to work on your novel while you enjoy the brew.
Service is instant and friendly, even on busy days.
What more could you ask for?
