Know a place?

We're genetically programmed to avoid places with bad water. So I dig up the dirt on the best and worst coffee around Cape Town and South Africa.
Been somewhere good? Got a new menu? Find DR on Facebook, leave a comment, and I'll don my hat and investigate.

Giovannis, Green Point ★★

Cappuccino with foam (House Blend)
A slightly burnt brew with a flat flavour profile. Mildly bitter aftertaste from overheating. I suspect house blend means whatever is near expiry.
Red cappuccino with red foam(Rooibos)
This urban brew has a hint of spanspek, reminiscent of home made fruit cakes. Popular with the ladies and Afrikaaner gentlemen called John or Gareth.
Standing room only! That's because there are no chairs except 5 at the coffee machine. Some standing tables, apparently Italian style but we both know it's to avoid evil corporate decadence with its 'chairs'. Not quite a restaurant, more a place where stuff is kept and you have to figure out how to get it into you without being comfortable.
Service is rubbish - ie self-service, yet prices are high. Complex system of numbered tickets and shouting for coffee in a bar-like fashion and getting your own food somewhere else and finding out what you're supposed to do. Don't expect a menu. Menus are so last year. Ask and you'll be given the eye-rolling point to the deli counter to make up a plate or sandwich.
It is,however, a fully stocked deli where you can order to go or eat in. Good food and lots of products to buy.
