Know a place?

We're genetically programmed to avoid places with bad water. So I dig up the dirt on the best and worst coffee around Cape Town and South Africa.
Been somewhere good? Got a new menu? Find DR on Facebook, leave a comment, and I'll don my hat and investigate.

Slainte, Main Rd, Green Point _★★

Cappuccino with crema R16 (Danesi)
A pleasant, mild roast that won't slay you with flavour, but won't kill you either. A healthy head of crema adds to the delish, but the overmilked cup masks the sweet coffee creating a virtual latteccino. Cups are a generous size.
Slainte, Irish for Health, offers a ruddy big collection of drinks and cocktails.
Avoid the Granadilla Pavlova - it's a pair of dangerously hard meringues with a teaspoon of granadilla seeds, floating in a puddle of overpoweringly tart lemon curd - so be prepared to look like Renee Zelwegger for a few minutes.
There is a hip and trendy bar larger than the restaurant that has just 4 desserts - these guys know where the money is.
Sade hits on the stereo. Friendly welcome and service. Stylish chairs and glossy wood tables.
